The bar size is always quoted both in metric and imperial. However, the number of drive links (equivalent to the number of teeth) can vary in Ryobi chainsaw chains, even when the chainsaw is designed to fit the same size of bar. It's important to get the correct number of teeth, because with the wrong number the chainsaw may not operate at maximum efficiency and could even slip. If you look at the list below, a 40cm bar can have between 55 and 66 drive links, which is a significant difference.
